Acupuncture

Helping you regain your health...Naturally! Acupuncture is the most well known therapy in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine sterile needles into specific points of the body. Along with relief of a condition, most people experience relaxation, increased vitality, or a sense of well-being from the acupuncture treatments. Acupuncture is a gentle procedure. Acupuncture needles may not be felt at all on insertion or there might be a mild sensation followed by tingling, heaviness or warmth around the needle. There is a saying in Chinese Medicine:

“When there is obstruction, there is pain.
When there is no obstruction, there is no pain."

Acupuncture works by removing obstructions in the flow of energy within the body. Many people live with conditions because they believe there is nothing more that can be done for them. Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine can succeed in alleviating many of these conditions.

Medical acupuncture respects the modern understanding of neuromuscular anatomy and pain physiology. At the same time, it includes the traditional Chinese roots of a subtle circulation network of channels, or meridians, which transports the flow of body energy known as Qi. The word Qi sounds like chee. The meridian system consists of approximately 400 points and 20 meridians. These 20 meridians connect acupuncture points together in order to improve the flow of energy and stimulate tissue regeneration. Therapeutic insertion of solid, extremely thin, one-time use disposable needles in various combinations and patterns of points follows traditional principles. Needling in this manner encourages the flow of Qi along with recruiting neuroanatomical segments or localized channels of a particular condition or injury. Needle insertion is most often painless with a slight feeling of fullness around the area the needle occupies.

Acupuncture allows for the release of certain hormones like endorphins and cortisol to help reduce the effects of inflammation and decrease pain. A few conditions such as back pain, neck and shoulder pain, headaches of all kinds, sprains, strains, sports injuries, chronic repetitive strains such as elbow and wrist conditions, and arthritic problems respond tremendously to medical acupuncture treatment. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the benefits of medical acupuncture for many common conditions such as:

Acupuncture offers possibilities for treatment when people have been told "nothing can be done." and / or "everything has been done."
By reducing acute pain, acupuncture may make chronic pain less likely to occur.
Acupuncture has little risk of worsening the condition.

Body Tune Up

Your vehicle needs check ups regularly to maintain proper functions, human body is the same. Most people go for tooth cleaning every six months, why not think about tuning up the body on a regular basis to keep healthy. Our Body Tune Up Program helps the body in the following three aspects:

Detoxing: Your body produces toxins every day because of stress and improper life style (such as diet, bad sleeping habit). If these toxins have accumulated to a certain level, they will cause diseases. According to Chinese Medicine, we believe that a good doctor does not treat the disease but prevents the onset of the disease. Cleaning your body on a regular basis will eliminate the toxins and ensure a smooth flow of energy and blood.

Balancing: You probably are very healthy according to your family doctor, but you actually don't feel great, you have experienced ups and downs with your body, we say that you are in a sub-health condition, which is caused by imbalance of the body. Correct these imbalances with acupuncture, your body will achieve its highest function and illness will be cured before its onset.

Seasonal Adjusting: According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, the human body, the nature and the society is an organic whole. Changes in nature and society will affect your body health. Every season has it's own predominant weather, you need to be prepared before they come. For instance, cold is predominant in winter, for people with a Yin type of body constitution (such as hypotension, hypothyroidism, asthma, cold hands and feet and low energy), they should strengthen Yang Qi before the winter comes; During Christmas, people tend to eat and drink a lot, if you tune up your digestive system beforehand, you will be less likely to get hangovers or indigestion.

A tune up program is a protocol of 6-8 treatments over the course of 6 weeks. If you don't have any diagnosed disease, tuning yourself up once every 6 months is recommended.

Quit Smoking

Acupuncture has turned a growing number of cigarette cravers into permanent ex-smokers. But you have to realize that acupuncture is not a panacea or a magic cure in the treatment of smoking. It can, however, reduce the cravings and lessen the withdrawal symptoms associated with quitting, thereby make it easier to quit and remain smoke-free, and without any side effects.

The acupuncture treatments will focus on the jitters, the cravings, the irritability, and the restlessness that people commonly complain about when they quit. It will also aid in relaxation and detoxification. Each patient is custom-treated according to his or her specific and unique diagnosis. Usually a combination of body acupuncture points and ear points are used that are believed to influence the organs and energetic pathways associated with smoking,

The length, number and frequency of treatments will vary. Typical treatments last 30 minutes. To receive the full benefit of the acupuncture treatment:

You must get the treatment twice a week for three weeks without any gap, followed by weekly, bi-weekly and monthly treatments total for four to six months for the treatment to be fully effective. You will be taught to do self acupressure on ears in order to reinforce the treatment and help cravings to pass.

It is always better to use this method with other therapies such as nicotine replacement therapy or support groups, lifestyle and dietary changes.
